Deleting your account and data
How to permanently delete your ITMO account, what gets erased, and why your anonymized reports stay on the map archive.
You can delete your account any time, even if you've already uninstalled the app and even if you can't sign in.
How to do it
Request deletion
Go to the account deletion page, enter the email on your account, and tick the confirmation box.
Check your inbox
We email a verification link to that address only. The link is good for 60 minutes. (Check spam if it's shy.)
Confirm
Click the link, then press Delete my account. Nothing is deleted until you press that button.
You can also email privacy@isthemountainout.com. Account deletion is also available in the iOS app.
This is permanent
There's no grace period and no undo. Your badges, streaks, Tahoma Tokens, and other progress are destroyed.
What gets deleted
- Your account record: name, username, email, password, profile settings
- Your profile photo
- Your sign-in credentials and API tokens (any device still signed in is signed out)
- All your gamification history: benchmarks, stats, streaks, Tahoma Token balance, leaderboard standing
- Your in-app activity records, like feature requests, upvotes, blocked accounts, and your subscription record
What stays
Your reports. The visibility state, the hexagon, and the timestamp remain in the community archive, because other people's view of Rainier's history depends on them. Your name and username are removed, and the reports become permanently anonymous. Deleting your account doesn't remove reports from the map.
Paid subscription?
Deleting your account doesn't cancel an App Store subscription. Manage or cancel it in your Apple subscription settings.
Not ready to delete? You can make your profile private instead. See anonymous vs. account.
What we collect
A plain-English summary of the data ITMO collects, why, and the service providers involved. Not a substitute for the full privacy policy.
Install and set up the iOS app
