FAQ
Quick answers about ITMO, including cost, how it works, location privacy, the iOS app, Android, and how to give feedback.
Core features are free and always will be. Reporting, the map, status, and webcams cost nothing. There's an optional Super Watcher subscription that adds perks and helps cover hosting and development.
You send a report of what you can see, and we update the map from recent reports. Thresholds keep one-off reports from flipping the overall status. See how reports are processed.
No. Reporting works anonymously. An account adds photos, a profile, streaks, and the leaderboard. See anonymous vs. account.
No. Your device rounds your location to a hexagon (a few city blocks across at most) and sends only that, not your latitude and longitude. See location privacy.
We need your location to place your report. If you previously denied the request, your browser keeps saying no until you allow it in site settings. See how to report.
There's a cooldown between reports and a daily limit, and webcam reports have extra rules (like needing daylight). See limits and cooldowns.
Photos need a free account. On the web you'll see a prompt to sign up. In the iOS app you need a profile. See photos.
Yes, on iOS: download it on the App Store. Android is next on the roadmap. See install and set up.
Same deal as the web. The app computes a hexagon on your phone (H3 resolution 9, roughly 350 m across) and sends that, not your coordinates. Photos are stripped of EXIF data, including GPS, on your phone before upload, and our servers strip them again.
In the iOS app, tap Contact us in Settings.
Use the account deletion page. See deleting your account for what's erased and what stays.
Maybe. If usage gets heavy, it might cost money past a certain point to cover upkeep.
Yup, and we'll take that as a compliment.
Subscribe to Super Watcher in the iOS app, or pitch in to help build the apps.
