Time Machine (Alpine Archive)
Scrub through any past day of Mt. Rainier webcam images and community report activity with the Alpine Archive Time Machine.
Missed the show? The Time Machine (officially the Alpine Archive) lets you replay a day on the mountain.
What's on the page
- A daily activity map. A static map showing where reports came in across the whole day.
- A webcam grid. Every camera, showing the frame closest to the time you've picked.
- Time controls. A slider from 00:00 to 23:59 in 5-minute steps, a play button, and an hourly bar chart of report volume.
How to use it
Pick a date
Use the calendar, or the previous and next day buttons. Any past day works.
Scrub the day
Drag the slider or hit play to watch the mountain appear and disappear.
Go fullscreen
Click a camera to see it bigger. It keeps updating as you scrub.
Hover over a camera to see when the frame was actually captured and how far it is from your slider position (like "5 min behind").
Keyboard shortcuts
