Tips for accurate reports
Simple habits for reporting what Mt. Rainier really looks like, so the map stays useful for everyone in the Pacific Northwest.
The map is only as good as the people feeding it. A few habits keep it great.
Do
- Report from where you actually are. Your location is how the map knows what's visible from where.
- Look first, tap second. Actually find the mountain's spot on the horizon.
- Report changes. Clouds roll in, clouds roll out. A follow-up report an hour later is welcome (within your cooldown).
- Add a photo when you can. It's the best proof, and it gives your report extra context.
- Be honest about "Not Out". Those reports matter.
Don't
- Report from home about a mountain you can't see from there.
- Report for a spot you aren't at.
- Spam the button. There are limits, and they're there for a reason.
Seeing something off?

Anonymous reporting vs. an account
ITMO works without signing up. Here is how device-based anonymous reporting works, what a free account adds, and how the two connect.
