What the report options mean
The five visibility states you can report for Mt. Rainier, from Not Out to Out, and how to pick the right one.
When you report, you pick one of five states. Think of it as a dial from "nope" to "there she is."
| Option | When to pick it |
|---|---|
| Not Out | You can't see the mountain, typically because of clouds or haze. |
| Peeking Out | Just a bit is showing. |
| Halfway Out | About half of the mountain is visible. |
| Mostly Out | Most of it is visible. |
| Out | Clear view of the whole thing. |
Tips for picking
- Report what you can see right now, from where you are. Not what you think it'll do in an hour.
- When in doubt, split the difference. The in-between states exist for exactly this.
- Reporting "Not Out" is useful. It's real data, and an honest "nope" saves someone a drive.
